MASDEA/AfReMas (Internet), Crosnier (1962) - Océan Indien occidental et Indonésie (Sumatra). Mer Rouge, Djibouti, Afrique orientale, Tanzanie, Comores, Mayotte, Madagascar.
Sakai (2004-CD-ETI) - Taiwan, Philippines, Hawaii.
It seems that some Pacific records of this species are Libystes villosus complex instead (see Castro, 2011, Zootaxa, and FLMNH records of L. villosus from Guam, Hawaii and French Polynesia, coll. G. Paulay, det. probably P. Ng).

Fourmanoir). - Crosnier, 1962: 14, fig. 5-10, Mayotte, 1 sp. 8 x 13.6 mm, MNHN. - Guinot, 1967: 253, list with Mayotte — IWP, Red sea, Tanzania, Madagascar to Indonesia, New Caledonia; subtidal to 187 m — Remarks - This species has been reported in Taiwan, Philippines and Hawaii (e.g. Sakai, 2004). Several of this records must be verified as the genus Libystes is in need of revision. They are probably part of a complex of species affiliated to Libystes villosus Rathbun, 1924, described from Samoa, later reported from Hawaii and formerly considered as a junior synonym of . L. nitidus (see remarks in Castro, 2011: 66).
