Libystes truncatifrons - Stephenson & Rees, 1967: 6 ("Maroe" = Huahine, "Tickahau" = Tikehau). - Catoptrus nitidus - Poupin, 1996a: 29 (Checklist, pro parte, sp. Eiao, 42m; not C. nitidus A. Milne Edwards, 1870 = Libystes truncatifrons). - Unpublished collections (coll. Frv Marara, stn D38, Eiao 42 m and possibly MUSORSTOM 9 stn CP1227, Hiva Oa 85 m). - Remark: this include specimen(s) from Eiao, 42 m, det. as Libystes truncatifrons by K. Moosa and listed under Catoptrus nididus A. Milne Edwards, 1870 by Poupin, (1996a: 29; checklist). According to A. Crosnier (pers. com., February 2003) the synonymy of Stephenson (1972: 29) between Catoptrus nididus and Libystes truncatifrons is not valid. - Unpublished specimens, prov. det. Poupin, coll. G. See comments for correction of Libystes truncatifrons to L. villosus complex.

Comment(s) on data
Following: a) Castro (2011) for ?validity of Libystes villosus Rathbun, 1924 from Hawaii, not a synonym of L. nitidus A. Milne-Edwards, 1867, cf. Ng (2011) et Ng pers. com. ; b) difference of L. nitidus (anterior margin of carapace smooth)/L. truncatifrons (anterior margin of carapace with 6 teeth) in Crosnier (1962); c) records of G. Paulay spp. from Guam and FP in FLMNH as L. villosus complex: specimens/records from FP are all corrected from L. truncatifrons to L. villosus complex.
Note 2019 - In Mantelatto et al. 2018 (JCB) Libystes sp. Rangiroa UF1646 groups to L. nitidus.
