Material examined — Mayotte KUW 2009, st. 32, Islet M'tzamboro, northeast, 6-21 m, 1 F ov. 3 x 4.3 mm, MNHN B32434, MNHN-IU-2009-1196. - Poupin, 2016: Juan de Nova, Expedition Juan de Nova December 2013, reef-block, st14 (nr), 1 male 5.7x7.0 mm (photo) (MNHN).
Remarks — In Guinot (1976) and Serène (1984) Lybia leptochelis (Zehntner, 1894) from Red Sea, Mozambique, Seychelles, Madagascar and Mauritius is a species very similar. Without comparison material, the specimen examined herein from Mayotte is attributed, with hesitation, to Lybia plumosa based on the aspect of anterolateral margins of carapace. Color photographs of L. plumosa and L. leptochelis are, respectively in Galil & Vannini (1990: 34, fig. 7b, Somalia) and Mendoza et al. (2014: 281, fig. 3E, Chrstmas Is.) showing very similar color pattern.
Geographic and depth ranges — WIO, ?IWP, Somalia, Mayotte (this work), South Africa to Seychelles, Madagascar, Mauritius; also French Polynesia; subtidal. This species is mostly reported in WIO its occurrence in the Pacific being limited to apparently limited to Moorea and Tikehau Islands in French Polynesia (cf. Serène, 1984; Peyrot-Clausade 1989).
