World Distribution
Komai & Tsuchida (2014, Zootaxa) - Heretofore known from Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, New Caledonia, French Polynesia and possibly from Travancore coast of India, 209–1414 m. The present specimens represent the first record of this species from Japanese waters

Comment R. Lemaitre (February 2015) on photo taken in French Polynesia, BENTHAUS, male sl 3.6 mm, det. P. McLaughlin (unpublished) - I was looking at the photo you sent me of Michelopagurus limatulus, and I noticed the color pattern does not match at all the color photo that McLaughlin et al. (2007: 221) included in their catalog of Taiwan for that species. The specimens in their catalogue is totally reddish and clearly more setose, whereas the one in your photo has white and reddish bands and seems almost without setae…
