Communication T.-Y. Chan, July 17, 2012 - You can see that the pale purple spots on the tip of the antennae is distinctly interrupted in P. caledonicus and differ from those of P. antarcticus. Also the orbit is not purple in P. caledonicus, but purple in P. antarcticus. Thus, it confirms my suspect on your 2012 South Pacific guide that your photos of P. caledonicus are not that species but P. antarcticus.
