Indian Ocean: Mozambique, Seychelles, Chagos archipelago, Nicobar Islands. Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Mariana Islands, Hawaii, French Polynesia (Society, Marquesas, Tuamotu), Easter Island (Haig, 1983, 1992).
Environnement : Marine - Substrat/Association : Hard bottom (rock and rubbles)
Vertical range : Shallow-waters (0-100 m) - Min-Max observed: 0-5 m
Central Pacific data (Wallis & Futuna, Polynesia, Clipperton, Easter Island)
Petrolisthes coccineus - Báez & Ruiz, 1985: 101 (Easter Island; specimens deposited in MNHN Santiago, coll. 1953). Not P. coccineus cf. Guzmán & Olguín, 2016: 224 = P. extremus instead.
