Serène (1984 : 163), MASDEA/AfReMas (Internet) - Océan Indien, Seychelles (Aldabra), Chagos, jusqu'à 42 m. Mayotte, premier signalement. Also Réunion from this database.

Environnement : Marine - Substrat/Association : Hard bottom (rock and rubbles)

Vertical range : Shallow-waters (0-100 m) - Min-Max observed: 30-42 m

Material examined — Mayotte KUW 2009, st. 22, Islet Choizil, west, Malandzamiayajou, 30-35 m, 1 M 12.3 x 18.2 mm, MNHN B32294, MNHN-IU-2009-1112 (checked July 2011, photos).
Remarks — This seems to be the first report of this rare species since Serène (1984). Guinot (1964b, pl. I) has given good figures of this species.
Geographic and depth ranges — IO, Seychelles (Aldabra), Mayotte (this work) to Chagos Islands; shallow water to 42 m.

Réunion data
Platypodia morini - Réunion, Mont La Pérouse, 160 km NW, 60-120 m, coll. T. Mulocheau 27/10/2019, 1 male juv. 3.68x5.58 mm, in a sponge. Det. Poupin 01/2020 with Serène (1984), Guinot (1964b, pl. I), & Poupin et al. (2018, fig. 17F, in ARB); distinct from Platypodia foresti Serène, 1984 by B/L=1.51 (vs 1.75) a strong 'trifid' tooth on fixed finger of chela (vs absent). First record for Réunion.
