Ahyong (2014: 251, The Raffle Bulletin) - 'P. oculata sensu stricto is restricted to the Atlantic Ocean and that the Indo-West Pacific form is referrable to a separate species, herein named Pseudosquillisma tweediei.
Amphi-Atlantic (Ascencion & St Helena Islands, S. Thomé, Cap Verde, Azores, Canary, Portugal, Gulf of Guinea; West Atlantic (Florida, Bahamas, Mexico, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guadeloupe, Colombia, Brazil) (Müller, 1994: 77).

Environnement : Marine - Substrat/Association : Hard bottom (rock and rubbles)

Vertical range : Shallow-waters (0-100 m) - Min-Max observed: 0-5 m

See Ahyong (2014: 250, The Raffles Bulletin) - Pseudosquillisma oculata (Brullé, 1837) (type locality: Canary Islands) has long been attributed an almost cosmopolitan distribution throughout the tropical Pacific, Indian and Atlantic oceans, although regional differences have been recognised (Schmitt, 1940; Manning, 1969; Ahyong, 2001) … P. oculata sensu stricto is restricted to the Atlantic Ocean and that the Indo-West Pacific form is referrable to a separate species, herein named Pseudosquillisma tweediei.
