World Distribution
Davie (2002: 311): Australia, Lord Howe Island, NSW (Central E Coast), QLD (Great Barrier Reef, NE Coast); Tasman sea, and west and central Pacific Ocean (Japan east to Hawai'i and south to Kermadec Islands. Now French Polynesia. Perhaps, also Réunion from a photograph (det. J. Poupin, this database).
Environnement : Marine - Substrat/Association : Hard bottom (rock and rubbles)
Vertical range : Shallow-waters (0-100 m) - Min-Max observed: 0-6 m

Remark - See Ng & Boyko (2017: 215) - The material examined by Griffin and Tranter (1986) from Lord Howe Island, the Kermadec Islands, and New Caledonia needs to be reexamined … (specimen from Kermader) is clearly not S. hilensis. Described as a new species later: Schizophroida colemani P.K.L. Ng & Ahyong, 2018.

With this remark: The New Caledonian record is based on an incomplete juvenile female, which also appears to be new to science, but is not formally named pending collection of more complete
