(Ng et al., 2020, Zool. Stud.) - WIO only. Madagascar, Mayotte, Comoros and adjacent areas in the western Indian Ocean. Other places in the IWP attributed to new species in this contribution.

Former record of S. impressus in New Caledonia is probably Sesarmops imperator P.K.L. Ng, J.-J. Li & Shy, 2020, although this is not formaly indicated in Ng et al. (2020).
