Comment(s) on data
Atergatopsis signata sometimes confused with A. lucasii in fieldnotes. Based on text and drawings of A. Milne-Edwards (1865, Cancériens Nouvelle Calédonie) it seems that color pattern differs: a) Couleur d'un brun rouge avec des dessins symetriques d'un jaune plus clair, pattes uniformement jaune rouge, doigts des pinces noirs - for A. signata (and for A. favomaculatus, a junior synonym:Couleur rouge avec des taches jaunes.); b) Couleur d'un brun chocolat avec une tache jaune en forme de croix sur le lobe urogastrique - for A. lucasii. The aspect of dorsal margin of the chela seems also to be useful: a) smooth in A. signata; versus b) tuberculated in A. lucasii (see photo of type in MNHN)
