World Distribution
McLay (2009 : 26, Zootaxa) -Tanaoa pustulosus inhabits the Indo-West Pacific region: East Africa, Seychelles, Mozambique Channel, Comoro Is, Madagascar, Reunion, Laccadive Sea, Andaman Sea, Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Fiji, Caroline Is, Agalega Is, and Geyser Reef, The specimens reported here fall within the known depth range 85–977 m (Galil, 2003). Also Mayotte, Geyser bank, Réunion.
East Africa is from Doflein (1904: 44, 0°29.3 S, 42°47.6 E which is off Somalia).

Environnement : Marine - Substrat/Association : Soft bottom (mud or sand)

Vertical range : Shallow to deep-waters (e.g. 10-190 m) - Min-Max observed: 85-977 m
