The species does not occur in the Red Sea where it is replaced by Uca (Austruca) albimana (Kossmann, 1877) (see Naderloo et al., 2010

Remarks — New generic classification, with genera Austruca, Cranuca, Gelasimus, Paraleptuca and Tubuca is in Shih et al. (2016).
Geographic and depth ranges — IWP, Mozambique, Tanzania, South Africa to Japan, Philippines, Samoa; supratidal. Austruca annulipes is not present in the Red Sea where it is 'replaced' by Uca (Austruca) albimana (Kossmann, 1877) (see Naderloo et al., 2010).
