Comment(s) on data
Carcinoplax abyssicola and the species related to C. specularis so far extend east as far as Tonga. The only species of Carcinoplax east of Tonga and found in French Polynesia are two small-size species, C. velutina Castro, 2007 and C. uncinata Castro 2009. Carcinoplax velutina is also found in Vanuatu, New Caledonia, and Fiji (Castro, 2007); C. uncinata in New Caledonia and Solomon Islands (Castro, 2009). Carcinoplax uncinata is herein recorded from French Polynesia for the first time (male, 8.8 × 11.4 mm, TARASOC, stn CP3376, Tuamotu Archipelago, 15º41?S, 146º54?W, 646-737 m, 10.1V.2009, MNHN-IU-2011-5233).
