(Serène, 1984: 259; Poupin, 1996a: 53): Madagascar, Comores, Mayotte, Hawaii, French Polynesia, Easter Island. - Shallow-waters; Hard bottom.
Serène (1984 : 259) - Indo-ouest Pacifique. L'espèce ayant longtemps été confondue avec nigra, il est impossible d’avoir une idée précise de sa distribution géographique. Il semble toutefois que les deux espèces ont la même large distribution dans la région indo-ouest-pacifique. Comprend, Mer Rouge, Afrique orientale, Somalie, Réunion, Madagascar, Comores, Mayotte, Hawaii, Polynésie française, Ile de Pâques.
Environnement : Marine - Substrat/Association : Hard bottom (rock and rubbles)
Vertical range : Shallow-waters (0-100 m) - Min-Max observed: 0-5 m
