Material examined — Mayotte KUW 2009, st. 26, Mutsumbatsou reef flat, intertidal at low tide, 1 F juv. 4.75 x 4.85 mm, MNHN-IU-2013-7218, in École Navale/IRENav collection, September 2017.
Remark — This small female cannot be determined confidently by using Galil (2009) and Naderloo & Apel (2012) keys where male characters only are retained. Hiplyra elegans reported in the nearby Madagascar (Tuléar and Nosy Bé) is proposed with hesitation based only on resemblance with photo in Galil (2009, fig. 7). Another possible species is Hiplyra variegata (Rüppell, 1830), common in WIO also rather similar (cf. Galil, 2009, fig. 13A).

Le genre Philyra, dans lequel était autrefois placée l'espèce de Gravier (1920) a été revu par Galil (2009) avec la création de plusieurs genres très proches d'après leur morphologie externe, parfois séparés seulement par l'aspect du mâle (pléopode, abdomen). Très arbitrairement, ce petit spécimen récolté à la station 26 est placé sous Hiplyra elegans, à cause d'une ressemblance avec la photo de cette espèce dans le travail de Galil (2009, fig. 7, sans les pattes) et de la distribution géographique, H. elegans ayant été récolté à Madagascar (Tuléar et Nosy Bé). Une espèce comme Hiplyra variegata (Rüppell, 1830), également commune dans l'ouest de l'océan Indien, pourrait aussi convenir. A revoir avec le spécimen et la clé de détermination de Galil (2009).
