World Distribution
Komatsu & Ng (2011: 37, Zootaxa) - Vietnam, Philippines and Vanuatu, occurring at the depths of 0–31 m (Serène 1955; present study). Also Comoro (Mayotte).
(Galil & Ng, 2020, TDSB 31) - Vietnam, Philippines, Vanuatu (Serène 1955; Komatsu & Ng 2011); new record for Papua New Guinea. - Also Mayotte in Poupin et al. (2018, ARB, photo).

Environnement : Marine - Substrat/Association : Soft bottom (mud or sand)

Vertical range : Shallow-waters (0-100 m) - Min-Max observed: 6-12 m

Materiel examined — Mayotte KUW 2009, st. 12, La Prévoyante reef, 6-12 m, det. P. Ng, 1 F ov. 2.84 x 4.23 mm, MNHN-IU-2009-2129; st. 25, south of islet M'tzamboro, 15-30 m, 1 F ov. 2.7 x 3.8 mm, det. J. Poupin juillet 2011, MNHN-IU-2013-7222, in École Navale/IRENav collection, September 2017.
Remarks — Pre-determined as Nucia sp. But recognized on photos by P. Ng (pers. Com.) as Kabutos durandi. This species is illustrated and redescribed in Komatsu & Ng (2011) with a diagnosis of the new genus Kabutos.
Geographic and depth ranges — Mayotte (this work, first record in IO) to Philippines, Vanuatu; subtidal to 31 m.
