Remarks — This species can be confused with andreossyi (Audouin, 1826). Determinations at st. 17 and 21b are made with hesitation and must be confirmed. The specimens are perhaps conspecific to a specimen of C. melanodactylus collected at st. 30 (MNHN-IU-2009-1108).
Geographic and depth ranges — IWP, Somalia, Mayotte to French Polynesia; shallow water.

Remarques pour Mayotte. Il faudrait confirmer la détermination du spécimen de la St. 14, avec un examen attentif au MNHN. D'après Serène (1984 : 33), Cymo deplanatus A. Milne Edwards, 1873 est très proche et également signalé de Mayotte où il a été confondu par Guinot avec C. andreossyi.
Le spécimen de la st. 17, examiné en septembre 2011 : ressemble au spécimen de la st. 30 (C. ?melanodactylus). le front est épineux, le bord de la carapace également ; il y a une forte pilosité entre les épines de la pince.
Spécimen de la st. 21b, examiné en septembre 2011 : même type morphologique que celui de la st. 30 (C. ?melanodactylus).
