French Guiana and surroundings areas: Guiana, Suriname, Brazil (Amapà)
Periclimenes yucatanicus – MNHN, Collections of Guyane 2014, French Guiana [R/V Hermano Gines: st. CP4381, 114–118 m, MNHN-IU-2013-2617; no determiner indicated]. — GBIF 2023, French Guiana [same MNHN dataset].
Distribution/Habitat – WA (southern limit French Guiana, if confirmed); Marine (associated with anemones); 3–24 m, perhaps to 114–118 m.
Remark – This record is doubtful and is probably Ancylomenes pedersoni, instead. The single specimen in MNHN collection was identified by an unknown determiner. The photograph provided is overall similar to that presented for specimens of the same campaign attributed to Ancylomenes pedersoni. Chace (1958: 128) indicates that the two species are closely related. Among the characters that he uses to separate them, the number of dorsal teeth on the rostrum that can be seen on MNHN photos is 5 (A. pedersoni) and 6 ('P. yucatanicus'). In both case, this indicate A. pedersoni (5–6 teeth) rather than P. yucatanicus (7–9 teeth). A careful revision of all this MNHN material, attributed to A. pedersoni and P. yucatanicus, is needed to conclude positively. If P. yucatanicus is confirmed, this would be a geographic extension range to the South, from Venezuela to French Guiana.
