World Distribution
Haig & Ball (1988) - Red Sea, Maldive and Andaman Islands, Vietnam, Philippines, Ryukyu Islands and Marshall Islands and herein recorded from Indonesia. Also New Caledonia (this contribution), Mozambique (com. pers. & photo Jannes Landschoff).

Environnement : Marine - Substrat/Association : Hard bottom (rock and rubbles)

Vertical range : Shallow-waters (0-100 m) - Min-Max observed: 1-50 m

Comment(s) on data
This species is affiliated to D. scutellatus. Aspect of cornea (pale blue) is similar. It differs by aspect of left chela lower margin, spinulose instead of unarmed (in D. scutellatus) and color pattern of antennular and antennal peduncles (no longitudinal stripes as in D. scutellatus).

New family Calcinidae Fraaije, Van Bakel & Jagt, 2017, replaces Diogenidae. Calcinidae unaccepted in Poore & Ahyong (2023) (also WoRMS 2023)
