Depth: 36-2034 m.

Vertical range : Shallow to deep-waters (e.g. 10-190 m) - Min-Max observed: 36-2034 m

Eupagurus pilimanus A. Milne-Edwards, 1880a: 43, St Kitts, Guadeloupe, ?Barbados [R/V Blake, 175-288 brasses] - In part, the specimen from Barbados is probably Sympagurus pictus Smith, 1883 (cf. Lemaitre, 2004, 2013).
Sympagurus pilimanus - A. Milne-Edwards & Bouvier, 1893: 63, St Kitts, Guadeloupe [pl. 5, fig. 8-20, St Kitts, Guadeloupe, R/V Blake, st. 148, 208 brasses, st. 167, 175 brasses] - In part, others places are for S. pictus Smith (cf. Comment: this species can be quickly recognized based on the bright red coloration on distal half of ocular peduncles. It was already photographed in color around Guadeloupe during the R/V Polka campaign (Poupin, 1994).
