Comments: Homola barbata is considered by Guinot & Richer de Forges (1995: 325) as an eastern Atlantic species. Records of that species in Guadeloupe, Martinique by Paulmier (1993, coll. R/V Polka) must be of Homola vigil instead as Guinot & Richer de Forges (1995) have attributed all R/V Polka specimens examined to that species.

Comment(s) on data
Felder et al. (2009) indicate 300-805 m as deep range for this species. However, it seems that according to collection made by traps around Guadeloupe (Paulmier, 1993, R/V Polka) the species occurs at shallower depths (125-150 m).
note: the equivalent species of H. barbata in the western Atlantic is H. minima
