Comment: Chaceon species are very close to each others and can be confused. Present determination is based on red color and dactyl of P5 dorsoventrally depressed (Manning & Holthuis, 1989). The species was already collected in the 1990's during the R/V Polka campaigns at similar depths (Paulmier, 1993; Poupin, 1994).

Geryon quinquedens Smith, 1879 – Takeda, 1983: 164, Suriname, French Guiana [310–790 m]. Not G. quinquedens Smith, 1879 but Chaceon eldorado new species in Manning & Holthuis (1989: 61).
Chaceon eldorado Manning & Holthuis, 1989: 61 – French Guiana [7°37'N, 53°32'W, 395 fm (723m), R/V Oregon II st. l0616, 13 May 1969: one male (USNM 205984)].
Chaceon quinquedens – Guéguen, 2000: 692, tab. 1, French Guiana [Continental shelf, 419–830 m]. By deduction, not C. quinquedens (Smith, 1879) but Chaceon eldorado (Manning & Holthuis, 1989).
Distribution/Habitat – WA (French Guiana as southern limit); Marine; 310–915 m (to 2000 m).
