Mithrax hispidus - Doflein, 1899: 179, Martinique - Not Damithrax hispidus (Herbst, 1790) but Damithrax spinosissimus (Lamarck, 1818) in Rathbun (1925).

Comment: This species is reported by Desbonne (1867) and A. Milne Edwards (1873-80) as sometimes of very big size and common around Guadeloupe and Martinique where it is caught by traps, in deep waters. It has been transferred from Damithrax to Maguimithrax by Klompmaker et al. (2015).
