Abele & Kim (1986: 31, Illustrated Guide) - Type-locality: Near shores of Bahama Islands [Catesby, 1743 (1754 ed.as cited in Holthuis 1959)]. Distribution: Off Cape Lookout, North Carolina, through Gulf of Mexico and West Indies to off Ilha de Sao Sevastiao, Brazil, 23°42.5'S, 45°14.5'W (Forest and De Saint Laurent, 1967). Felder et al. (2009: 1069, Checklist) - North Carolina, Gulf Mexico, Antilles, Carribean to Uruguay. Shallow-128 m. Includes Lesser Antilles (Guadeloupe, Martinique).
