Cardisoma guanhumi - Parasram et al. (2021, Zootaxa: 464, fig. 7) - Barbados

French Guiana and surroundings areas: Guiana, Suriname, Brazil (Amapà)
Cardisoma guanhumi – Young, 1900: 247, Guyana. — Holthuis, 1959a: 259, Suriname [a single specimen taken in a highly unusual place (shrimp trap) ... more information on whether and where the species actually occurs in Suriname would be highly welcome]. — Lima et al., 2009, Brazil Amapá.
Distribution/Habitat – WA; Terrestrial (mangrove).
Remark – The WA distribution of this mangrove crab seems to be interrupted in the FGR. It is still not reported in French Guiaana and its presence in Guyana and Suriname needs to be confirmed (Holthuis, 1959; Lima et al., 2009, fig. 1). Lima et al. (2009) have nevertheless documented interesting records in the states of Amapá and Pará, thus reducing the geographic lacuna in the region.

Comment(s) on data
This species eaten by local at Guadeloupe, but Chace & Hobbs (1969: 45) have this comment for Dominica "Both G. lateralis and G. ruricola seem definitely to be preferred to Cardisoma guanhami and apparently are more widely available than the latter".
The presence of this species in Suriname is dubious according to Holthuis (1959: 259): "More information on whether and where the species actually occurs in Suriname would be highly welcomed" and it has still not be reported in French Guiana. Its presence in North Brazil (Amapà and Pará) is however confirmed by Lima et al. (2009) and it is common in Northeast and Southeast Brazil.
