(Hendrickx, 1995b : 135; Castro et al., 2004) - Red Sea to Mexico, including Hawaii and French Polynesia. In the Eastern Pacific, from the gulf of California to Equator (La Plata I.) and Oceanic Islands: Baja California Sur, Revillagigedo (Clarion, Socorro), Clipperton, Galapagos.

Material examined — Mayotte KUW 2009, st. 14, La Prudente bank, 15-17 m, 1 M 4.2 x 5.2 mm, MNHN-IU-2009-2644, det. October 2011; st. 32, Islet M'tzamboro, northeast, 6-21 m, 2 MM 4.2 x 5.4 and 5.0 x 6.6 (with sacculina) mm, MNHN 32291, MNHN-IU-2009-1109. - BIOTAS 2009, Juan de Nova, outer-reef, st. JDN19, lots MEPA-00803, 805 (nr) (based on spines present on full length of P4 merus, color pattern of chela, compared to previous spp. from Mayotte).
Remarks — Domecia hispida and D. glabra are very similar and can be confused. The two specimens examined herein are attributed to D. hispida based on: a) distal part of thoracic sternum narrow, elongated; b) dorsal margin of P5 merus with spines along entire margin.
Geographic and depth ranges — IP, Red Sea, Kenya, Mayotte (this work), Mozambique channel (Europa Is.) to Hawaii, French Polynesia, Easter Island, Clipperton, Gulf of California, Equator; subtidal to 50/90 m.
