World Distribution
Davie & Crosnier (2006: 403) - Known only from Austral Islands, in French Polynesia. Dredged from 59-150 and 120-200 m depth, but seems most abundant between 90-130 m depth.

Environnement : Marine - Substrat/Association : Hard bottom (rock and rubbles)

Vertical range : Shallow to deep-waters (e.g. 10-190 m) - Min-Max observed: 59-200 m

Echinolatus proximum Davie & Crosnier, 2006: 399, fig. 3-5, 6b, 9d, 10 (Macdonald seamount, Marotiri, Rapa NE bank, Neilson bank, 59-200 m, abundant between 90-130 m; coll. BENTHAUS Expedition st. DW1877, CAS1878, DW1880, DW1881, DW1901, DW1905, DW1913, DW1915).

In the Ovalipidae Spiridonov, Neretina & Schepetov, 2014 (WoRMS, 2019) but see Evans (2018, PeerJ) for classification of this genus in the Geryonidae.
