Comment: this small species was very common during Karubenthos 2012, collected between 8-80 m. It is again collected during Karubenthos 2015 much deeper at 323-347 m which is still in the depth range reported for the species. Linnaeoxantho acanthomerus (Rathbun, 1911) is the equivalent species in the IWP, very similar although in a different genus. Recent phylogenetic analysis inferred from nuclear and mitochondrial markers indicate that both species should be now classified in a separate family, Linnaeoxanthidae Štev?i?, 2005 (see Toma et al., 2014).
