Comment: this is a common shallow waters species also collected during Karubenthos 2012 and 2015 between 12-95 m. It is sometimes (e.g. Felder et al., 2009) considered as subspecies of Paractaea rufopunctata (H. Milne Edwards, 1834) a species from the Indo-West Pacific. It is treated herein as a species, following Alves et al. (2012b). Several specimens of this species have been also recognized in 2012 at St Martin during a fieldwork organized there by the Réserve National Naturelle (specimens in FLMNH, UF 32228, 32555, 32401, com. pers. G. Paulay). - Questel, 2019: 24, St Barthélemy (from litt.).

Paractaea nodosa – Coelho et al., 2008: 35, Brazil Amapá [List]. — Alves et al., 2012b: 945, Brazil Amapá [Distribution from Melo, 1998]. — Cintra et al., 2017: tab. 1-6, Brazil Amapá [bycatch of shrimp fisheries, 0-4°N, 27-47 m]. — Tavares & Mendonça 2022: 72, Brazil Amapá [Distribution].
Paractaea rufopunctata (H. Milne Edwards, 1834) – Mantellato et al., 2022: 79, Brazil Amapá [In distribution, with this remark: The taxonomy of this species is unclear and should be clarified. Most of the previous records in Brazil were made as P. rufopunctata nodosa (see Coelho et al. 2008) and we speculate that distribution also needs elucidation]. Corrected herein to P. nodosa, based on the geography (WA versus IWP).
Distribution/Habitat – WA; Marine (sea grass flats); 0–220 m.
Remark – Paractaea nodosa is sometimes (e.g. Felder et al., 2009) considered as subspecies of Paractaea rufopunctata (H. Milne Edwards, 1834) which is basically an IWP species.

Comment(s) on data
Paractaea nodosa treated as a subspecies of P. rufopunctata in Felder et al. (2009) while other authors (e.g. Coehlo et al., 2008, Checklist) treat it as a species. In Eastern Pacific, P. nodosa is 'replaced' by P. sulcata ('analogous' species in Ratbhun, 1930; see Clipperton specimen in this database).
