Euchirograpsus americanus A. Milne-Edwards, 1880a: 18, Barbados [R/V Blake, st. 278, 69 fathoms]. - Rathbun, 1918: 282, St Lucia, Barbados. - Rathbun, 1921: 78, Barbados [Barbados-Antigua Expedition 1918]. - A. Milne-Edwards & Bouvier, 1923: 351, Barbados [R/V Blake, st. 278, Barbades, 69 brasses].
Euchirograpsus americanus - Guadeloupe, Karubenthos 2012, det. J. Poupin October 2013, 1 female 8.9 x 9.6 mm, MNHN-IU-2013-16317, st. GD70 (100 m) (erroneously as GB01 in MNHN), no JL.
Comment: Specimen from Guadeloupe (MNHN-IU-2013-16317) is very similar to Euchirograpsus antillensis Türkay, 1975, also reported from Guadeloupe (Poupin, 1994; R/Vpolka, trap 148 m). However, the armature of P2 merus is that of E. americanus, based on drawings for both species in Türkay (1975: 113, fig. 16a-b).

French Guiana and surroundings areas: Guiana, Suriname, Brazil (Amapà)
Euchirograpsus americanus – Corbari et al., 2015: 165–167, unnumbered tab., French Guiana [Guyane 2014 Expedition, st. CP4393, 145–163 m, MNHN-IU-2013-2640 at http://coldb.mnhn.fr/catalognumber/mnhn/iu/2013-2640].
Distribution/Habitat – WA; Marine; 30–508 m.
Remark – It would be interesting to revise this determination with the specimen in MNHN because Euchirograpsus antillensis Türkay, 1975 is very similar and the two species can be confused (Poupin, 2018).
