Anker (2012: 9, Zootaxa, revision of A. armillatus complex) - Caribbean Sea: Guadeloupe, St. Martin, Barbados, Aruba, Venezuela (Morrocoy), Panama (Isla Grande, Bocas del Toro), Costa Rica (Cahuita), Belize (Carrie Bow Cay), Honduras (Utila), Mexico (Cozumel); southern Gulf of Mexico (Alacranes Reef off northern Yucatan); southern Florida: Dry Tortugas, Florida Keys, Soldier Key (off Miami) (present study; see also Coutière 1910); presently not known from the Guyanas, Brazil, northern Gulf of Mexico, and the Atlantic coast of the USA north of southern Florida .

Environnement : Marine - Substrat/Association : Soft bottom (mud or sand)

Vertical range : Shallow-waters (0-100 m) - Min-Max observed: 0-9 m

Comment: This is a species of the Alpheus armillatus complex (see Anker, 2012). Several records before Anker (2012) must be checked.

Note by J. Poupin: Karubenthos JL786 lot has also A. bahamensis and A. cf. packardi
Anker (2012, Zootaxa) indicates that A. armillatus s.s. is still not reported from the coast of Guyanas.
