Comment: this species, rarely reported, has been described from the Lesser Antilles (Grenada, 168 m). The determination is based on figures in A. Milne-Edwards (1880, pl. 53, fig. 5) and also on photographs of Tetraxanthus rugosus Rathbun, 1930 (pl. 185, fig. 1-3) a species that must be considered as a synonym of T. bidentatus according to Chace (1939: 52; 1940: 36-37).
