World Distribution
Chace & Hobbs (1969) - Estado de Puebla, Mexico, to Estado de Sao Paulo, Brazil (Jamaica, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Saint Vincent, Grenada). - De Grave, S. 2013. Macrobrachium heterochirus. The IUCN Red List - The species is widespread, occurring from Mexico southwards to Brazil, including many of the Caribbean Islands (de Melo 2003). There are also records of this species from Florida, but is is unclear if this is a natural range expansion during warmer years or an accidental introduction with fish and/or aquatic plants (Rogers, C. pers. comm. 2012).
