Gelasimus palustris H. Milne Edwards, 1852: 148, 'Antilles', in part Martinique - Gelasimus palustris H. Milne Edwards, 1852 is accepted as Minuca rapax (Smith, 1870) but Crane (1975: 325) indicate that '1 dry specimen from Martinique in MNHN labeled 'U. palustris' is U. thayeri'.

Poupin (based on Chace & Hobbs, 1969: 203, key; front is 0.24 time length of fronto-orbital length (0.30 in a U. rapax specimen used for comparison) and surface of carapace is uneven and at least partially covered with scurflike pubescence; additonally gape at base of big chela is pilous along edges of fingers); Martinique, Etang du Galion, March 2016, field photo R.
