(Rathbun, 1901; Manning, 1961); Gatun and Miraflores Locks, Panama (Abele & Kim, 1989); Puerto Rico (Rathbun, 1901), Guadeloupe (Carvacho, 1979, as P. karukera), Curaçao (Schmitt, 1924); Brazil (Maranhão, Ceará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Bahia, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina) (Ortmann, 1897; Fausto-Filho, 1968; Ramos-Porto, 1986; Ramos-Porto & Coelho, 1990; Ferreira et al., 2010; Machado et al., 2010). Perhaps Cuba, Virgin Islands. Curaçao (Schmitt, 1924) should be Leander tenuicornis fide Holthuis (1952)

Palaemon paulensis - Schmitt, 1924b: 72, Curaçao [coll. C.J. van der Horst, 1920]. - Schmitt, 1935: 160, Curaçao [This form is exceedingly close to P. tenuicornis].
Leander paulensis - Manning, 1961: 525 [Redescription of L. paulensis and comments on previous synonymy between L. paulensis and L. tenuicornis in Holthuis, 1952]. - Carvalho et al., 2014: 1586, ?VGI, Guadeloupe [Distribution, synonymys].
Palaemonetes karukera Carvacho, 1979: 449, Guadeloupe [mangrove, 29 spp., near mouth of river but not in freshwater, holotype MNHN Na2744; types later re-numbered as MNHN-IU-2013-11274 to 11281; synonym of L. paulensis in Carvalho et al., 2014].

Comment(s) on data
Carvalho et al. (2014, Crustaceana) - Leander paulensis is commonly found associated with algae and marine phanerogams in shallow water (up to a depth of 16 m) and near estuaries and mangroves. Considering its fecundity and environment, it is thought to have extended larval development.
