World Distribution
Bracken-Grissom & Felder (2014, Zootaxa) - Western Atlantic: Gulf of Mexico (off Louisiana, Mississippi, Mexico), Caribbean Sea (off Colombia and Guadeloupe), and Brazil.

(López-Sánchez et al., 2020, Nauplius) - Venezuela. Western Atlantic: Gulf of Mexico (Louisiana/Mississippi, USA?; off Veracruz, Mexico), Caribbean Sea (Cuba, Panama, Haiti, Colombia and Guadeloupe) and Eastern Brazil (Alagoas, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, Săo Paulo) (Bracken-Grissom and Felder, 2014; Bracken-Grissom et al., 2014; Almeida et al., 2018) (Fig. 3).

Environnement : Marine - Substrat/Association : Soft bottom (mud or sand)

Vertical range : Shallow to deep-waters (e.g. 10-190 m) - Min-Max observed: 12-122 m

Alpheus platycheirus - Bracken-Grissom & Felder, 2014: 475, Guadeloupe [1 female, MNHN-IU-2013-13189, Guadeloupe, [transversal en bordure de la microalgune de Rotours, chalutage 5’, 11h15, 21 March 1978, coll. Rojas, det. A. Anker].
Comment: this is a species of the Alpheus floridanus species complex revised by Bracken-Grisson & Felder (2014), including four species in WA, A. floridanus, A. platycheirus, A. roblesi and A. ulalae.
