Central Pacific data (Wallis & Futuna, Polynesia, Clipperton, Easter Island)
EASTER ISLAND - Pseudosquilla oculata. - DiSalvo et al., 1988: 458 (Easter Island, scuba dives 15-60m; det. unknown "The Stomatopod Pseudosquilla oculata (Brullé) (described as P. oxyrhyncha by Gravier 1936) was collected fro cryptic habitats"). - Pseudosquillisma oculata - Manning, 1995: 110 (ref. to Cappola & Manning, 1995) for new Pseudosquillisma genus). - Remark: it is unclear with DiSalvo et al. work if Gravier specimens of Raoulserena oxyrhyncha have been re-identified in Paris Muséum. Also, S. Ahyong made the following comment (e-mail, 02 Feb. 2001) "It (Raoulserenea oxyrhyncha) is very similar to Pseudosquillisma oculata, so the records of these species from Easter Island require verification. They could be either or even referable to two other species." - FRENCH POLYNESIA - Pseudosquilla oculata - Kemp, 1913: 102 (Society Islands). - Odhner, 1923: not seen (in Ahyong, 2002). - Müller, 1994: 76 (Syn.). - Pseudosquillisma oculata - Cappola & Manning, 1995: 285 (New combination). - Manning, 1995: 21 (List). - Poupin, 1998: 35 (Checklist). - Ahyong, 2002: 369 (Checklist). - Not Pseudosquilla oculata - Heller, 1865: 124 (see under P. ornata).

Comment(s) on data
See Ahyong (2014: 250, The Raffles Bulletin) - Pseudosquillisma oculata (Brullé, 1837) (type locality: Canary Islands) has long been attributed an almost cosmopolitan distribution throughout the tropical Pacific, Indian and Atlantic oceans, although regional differences have been recognised (Schmitt, 1940; Manning, 1969; Ahyong, 2001) … P. oculata sensu stricto is restricted to the Atlantic Ocean and that the Indo-West Pacific form is referrable to a separate species, herein named Pseudosquillisma tweediei.
