Debrot (2003, Crustaceana) - It appears to be widely distributed in the West Indies and has also been reported from Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and Bonaire (Hobbs, 1994). - De Grave, S. 2013. Macrobrachium lucifugum. The IUCN Red List - The species is known from caves and coastal sink holes in Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Curaçao and Bonaire, often in brackish water.
