Mayotte data
Etisus frontalis (Dana, 1852)
Material examined — Mayotte KUW 2009, st. 6, Déversoir Badamiers, Petite Terre, intertidal, 1 M 10.7 x 17.6 mm, 1 F 7.8 x 12.5 mm, 2 juv., det. Septembre 2011, MNHN or IRENAV, not located; st. 19, north islet Handrema, 6-10 m, 1 F juv. 5.2 x 6.8 mm (CW/Lc=1.30), MNHN-IU-2009-2626, careful examination in July 2011.
Remarks — Male pleopod, with a typically coiled distal filament, has been verified on male at st. 6. For the two large specimens collected at this station the finger of the biggest chela has a molar tooth on its cutting edge, probably used to break mollusk shells. Juvenile at st. 19 is attributed to Etisus frontalis mostly because of the shape of its front, as illustrated in Guinot (1964b, pl. V, fig. 2), also in Serène (1984, pl. XXXI E).
Geographic and depth ranges — IWP, Mayotte (this work), Seychelles to ?Australia, French Polynesia; intertidal, subtidal.

Etisodes electra - Nobili, 1907: 390 (Hikueru) pro parte not Etisus electra (Herbst, 1801) = E. frontalis fide Guinot (1964: 54; cf. Remark under E. electra). - Etisus frontalis - Guinot, 1964: 54 (Hikueru). - Odinetz, 1983: 209 (Moorea). - Serène, 1984: 229, fig. 139, pl. 31e (Syn.). - Guinot: 1985: 450 (List). - Poupin, 1996a: 52 (Checklist). - Etisodes frontalis - Guinot, 1985: 450 (List; cf. Remark). - Remark: In her list, Guinot (1985: 450) mentions the two following species: Etisodes frontalis (Dana, 1852) and Etisus frontalis Dana, 1852. It is obviously a mistake for a single species, described under Etisodes frontalis by Dana (1852b: 187). - Moorea Biocode project.
