Environnement : Marine - Substrat/Association : Soft bottom (mud or sand)
Vertical range : Shallow-waters (0-100 m) - Min-Max observed: 1-10 m

Distribution: IOV (Margarita). 1-10 m. WA (continental).
Isocheles wurdemanni - Lira, 1997, tab. 3, Margarita - Not Isocheles wurdemanni Stimpson, 1859 but most probably I. sawayai instead (see Comment).

Comment: Isocheles wurdemanni is probably restricted to the Gulf of Mexico with records from Venezuela being those of southern congener, Isocheles sawayai Forest & de Saint Laurent, 1968 (see Felder et al., 2009, note 188). Following note 188 in Felder et al. (2009) and report of I. sawayai from Margarita in Galindo et al. (2008), the record of I. wurdemanni from Margarita in Lira (1997) is attributed herein to I. sawayai.

See Felder et al. (2009), note 188 - there is reason to question previous reports of I. wurdemanni from Venezuela (Mantelatto et al. 2006), their possibly being confused with a southern congener, I. sawayai; all other confirmed records are from the GMx, which suggests that this species may be restricted in distribution to those waters; usually found in shallow water to about 4 m, although it has been reported from 187.5 m in the south southwestern GMx by Hernández-
Aguilera, Toral Almazán, and Ruiz Nuño (1996).
