Remarks — Diagnostic characters for this species are under E. dentatus. In complement of the carapace examined on the field (not retained), several in situ photo of this big bright red crab are from Mayotte in Legall & Poupin (2018).
Geographic and depth ranges — Red Sea, Mayotte (this work), Madagascar to Hawaii, French Polynesia; subtidal to at least 10 m.
