Material examined — Mayotte KUW 2009, st. 3, Trévani fringing reef (night, photo in situ J. Dumas), 1-8 m; st. 24, islet Handrema, north, 6-12 m, a carapace 30.9 x 47.6 mm, MNHN B32487, MNHN-IU-2009-1249.
Remarks — This big species can be recognised during scuba dive by the antero-lateral margins of the carapace that have (behind the exorbital angles) seven large, curved, flattened teeth, almost of equal size. Its live coloration is chocolate brown (as in E. dentatus). Several in situ photo of this crab from Mayotte are in Legall & Poupin (2018).
