Distribution (cf. Castro et al., 2003) - Mediterranean Sea, eastern Atlantic Ocean (from the Azores and Portugal to Cape Verde Islands), western Atlantic Ocean (from New England to Venezuela), and from Ascension and St Helena islands in the South Atlantic (Fig. 5). Depth: 35-474 m (Williams 1982).

Environnement : Marine - Substrat/Association : Hard bottom (rock and rubbles)

Vertical range : Shallow-waters (0-100 m) - Min-Max observed: 35-474 m

Lesser Antilles data
Distribution: IOV (south of Los Roques). 35-474 m. ATL-MED.
Latreillia manningi Williams, 1982 : 237, Los Roques (off Venezuela, south of Los Roques) [USNM 172324, 1 F ov. off Venezuela, R/V Oregon, st. 4465, 17 October 1963, 10°45’N, 66°37’W, 229 m] - Accepted as Latreillia elegans Roux, 1830 in WoRMS (2017).
Remark: Synonymy between Latreillia manningi Williams, 1982 and Latreillia elegans Roux, 1830 is not accepted in Felder et al. (2009; note 241) who prefer to separate the WA species (L. manningi) from the EA-MED species (L. elegans) until 'comparative molecular studies can clarify its status'. Castro et al. (2003: 612) must be consulted for synonymy between these two species with this conclusion 'The differences between the two populations [WA and EA-MED] are thus seen as minor and overlapping and do not warrant the separation of L. elegans into two separate species'.
