(Lorang et al. 2020, Zootaxa: 70) - This species (Fig. 7) is restricted to Cook Islands (Rarotonga) and in French Polynesia to Austral, Gambier and Society archipelagoes. Rapa in Austral archipelago and Mangareva in Gambier archipelago correspond respectively to the most southerly (27°35’S) and easterly extension (135°W) of the genus Atyoida, with A. tahitensis being present

Atyoida tahitenis (corrected from A pilipes, 2020) - Moorea, coll. Simon Brand (simonjbrandl@gmail.com), Novembre 2017 - We collected it from a reef outcrop just inside the lagoon on the Eastern side of the island - Det. J. Poupin/S. De Grave from photo (an ovigerous female, see photo) - This is a freshwater shrimp, unusually collected at sea. According to S. De Grave (pers. com.) juveniles of this species are sporadically recorded at sea in literature but this record from Moorea would be the first one for an adult specimen.
