World Distribution
(Sasaki, 2022) - WA - Western Atlantic: Colombia, Venezuela, Guyanas to Brazil (Santa Catarina). French Guina (Iles du Salut), Brazil (Amapá to 27°S). 20-60 m. 7 m in MNHN.

Environnement : Marine - Substrat/Association : Soft bottom (mud or sand)

Vertical range : Shallow-waters (0-100 m) - Min-Max observed: 7-60 m

Hepatus gronovii - Correction in September 2025 (J. Poupin), from photo of Hepatus pudibundus (Herbst, 1785), Guadeloupe - Karubenthos 2012, det. E. Macpherson, Besse 2013, st. GN29, lot JL1154, MNHN IU-2013-6699. This specimen is more certainly H. gronovii, very close to H. scaber Holthuis, 1959 but this later species has setae at tip of P2-P3, absent on present photo.

? Hepatus sp. A. – Durand, 1959: 32, French Guiana [R/V ORSOM II; det. Guinot-Dumortier]. — Guinot-Dumortier, 1959: 512, French Guiana [Iles du Salut, 23–35 m; … deux espčces d'Hepatus qui sont nouvelles pour la faune carcinologique américaine. Ces deux espčces étaient également présentes dans la collection de Suriname étudiée par Holthuis et leur description est actuellement sous presse… Afin de permettre l'identification d'Hepatus sp. A, nous en publions le premier pléopode mâle (fig. 12 a-c); see Remark].
Distribution/Habitat – WA; Marine; 7–60 m.
Remark – The male pleopod figured by Guinot (1959, fig. 12a-c) is overall similar to that of H. gronovii in Holthuis (1959a, fig. 43). Comparison of specimens is nevertheless needed to confirm that 'Hepatus sp. A.' is really H. gronovii because H. scaber Holthuis, 1959a could be also considered.
