Benthopagurus schmitti Wass, 1963 accepted as Tomopagurus cokeri (Hay, 1917) in WoRMS (2023)].

Distribution/Habitat – WA (Brazil Amapá as southern limit); Marine; 44–430 m.

Remark – The material cited by Wass (1963) under 'Guianas' include R/V Oregon stations made off Venezuela/Guyyana, Suriname, French Guiana and Brazil Amapá. Part of these records belong to Tomopagurus wassi instead: see under that species, st. 2286 (Suriname) and st. 1985 (Guyyana). There are some errors in R/V Oregon stations in McLaughlin (1981), corrected herein by checking Bullis & Thompson (1965) and online NMNH Collections 2023
