Central Pacific data (Wallis & Futuna, Polynesia, Clipperton, Easter Island)
Hippolyte ventricosa - Holthuis, 1947: 55, fig. 7-9 (Syn.). - Naim, 1980, annexe 1-2 (Moorea; in alga Turbinaria ornata). - Poupin, 1998: 24 (Checklist). - Remark: this species is recorded from French Polynesia in a thesis (NAIM, 1980). However, after d'UDEKEM d'ACOZ (1999) redescription of Hippolyte ventricosa, this record now appears very uncertain. D'Udekem d'Acoz (1999 : 72) writes : "Hippolyte ventricosa is only know with certainty from India ... Most other Indo-Pacific records are probably based on other species." (see last addition section).
