Abele & Kim (1986, Illustrated Guide) - Type-locality: East coast of United States. Distribution: Occasionally Nova Scotia, Maine, and northern Massachusetts, to northern Argentina, Bermuda, and the Antilles; Resund, Denmark; the Netherlands and adjacent North Sea; northwest and southwest.
France; Golfo di Genova; northern Adriatic; Aegean, western Black, and eastern Mediterranean Sea; Lake Hamana-ko, central Japan (Williams, 1984). 1-90 m. Includes Lesser Antilles (Martinique).
Melo (1996: 318) includes Brazil.

Environnement : Marine & brackish - Substrat/Association : Soft bottom (mud or sand)

Vertical range : Shallow-waters (0-100 m) - Min-Max observed: 1-90 m

Lupea dicantha, Latr. (sic) - Desbonne, in Desbonne & Schramm, 1867: 36, Guadeloupe [les lagunes, très recherché comme aliment'] - Portunus diacantha Latreille, 1825 is accepted as Callinectes sapidus Rathbun, 1896 in Ng et al. (2008).

Article du Marin 26/11/2020 : Le crabe bleu, originaire des côtes américaines, prolifère depuis trois ans
sur les côtes françaises méditerranéennes. Un nouveau venu qui dérange et qu’il faut réguler.
