Comment(s) on data
Luppi & Spivak (2002) - The spider crab Pyromaia tuberculata (Lockington, 1877), originally collected in San Diego, USA, was then found on eastern Pacific coasts from México to Colombia (Rathbun, 1925; Garth, 1958). It was introduced to Japan and New Zealand (Carlton 1987; Morgan, 1990; Furota, 1996a, b). The first record in the western Atlantic was documented by Melo et al. (1989: 8-9) for southern Brazilian littoral waters (from Rio de Janeiro to Paraná). Recently, larvae and adults of P. tuberculata were found near Rio de la Plata and in Argentine coastal waters (Schejter et al., 2002).
